A thought provoking talk by Charles Cordell preceded the Book-Signing.

Bristol 1904 Arts - English Civil War presentation by Charles Cordell

Bristol 1904 Arts - English Civil War presentation by Charles Cordell.

CHARLES CORDELL, is a writer with experience as a soldier and diplomat on the ground in the Middle East, South Asia, North Africa, the Sahel and West Africa. He has seen humanity at its best, its worst and its most desperate. His writing draws on his time spend in the fraying margins of civilisation, as well as a long study of the Great Crisis of the 17th century.

Brilliant English Civil War day in Bristol - walking and talking about the Storming of Bristol in 1643 and signing copies of The Keys of Hell and Death that tells the story.

Huge thanks to the Red Lodge staff, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol 1904 Arts for hosting the event in an iconic, contemporary venue - the Red Lodge - Bristol's hidden Elizabethan gem where Prince Rupert actually received the parliamentary hostages at the time.

It was wonderful to see the Great Oak Room come alive with all the fantastic re-enactors from Colonel James Wardlaw's Regiment of Dragoons and SMG James Carr's Regiment of Foote of the Sealed Knot.

Thanks to all that came along to join us there. History, living history and historical fiction in a wonderful venue - what more could you want?
